"FREE MARKET AND CIVIL LIBERTIES THINK TANK CONGRATULATES
PRIME MINISTER'S SON ON JOB - MERITOCRACY NOW PREVAILS IN
BRITAIN"
The Libertarian Alliance, the radical free market and civil liberties
think tank and pressure group, congratulates the Prime Minister's
son Euan Blair, on securing a job at 'The Sunday Times'.
Libertarian Alliance Director, Dr Chris Tame commented:
"We realise how hard it is for the press to find talented
individuals with investigative skills, writing ability and innovatory
and interesting things to say. We are therefore pleased that they
have not deviated from the principles of meritocracy and have scoured
all ranks of our society in order to identify and cultivate genuine
talent. That a Prime Minister's son could receive such an
appointment tells us all we need to know about the state of our
society today.
Let the carping critics and cynics remain silent. Can we doubt that
the last vestiges of the old boy network, the bad old days when brain
dead upper-class twits found easy passage throughout business, the
civil service, politics and the media, are now over? Two New Labour
administrations have clearly transformed our country into a
meritocracy where talent is at a last able to rise from all sections
of society."
